‘SAS: Support & Signpost’ Training Helps Local Communities Stand with Survivors

Vale Domestic Abuse Services is inviting local businesses, organisations and individuals to take part in our free ‘SAS: Support & Signpost’ community training.

The training is designed to build confidence and understanding, helping participants to:

• Recognise the signs that someone may be experiencing domestic abuse

• Respond safely and appropriately

• Understand how to have supportive conversations

• Know how and where to signpost someone to specialist support

Domestic abuse can be difficult to recognise and disclosing abuse can feel incredibly difficult for survivors. The response someone receives when they do reach out can make a real difference. By increasing awareness across our local community, we can create more safe opportunities for people experiencing domestic abuse to be seen, heard and connected with specialist support.

Our recent session was attended by 12 people from our local community, who were equipped with the knowledge and confidence to recognise potential signs of abuse and safely signpost people to support.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who is standing with survivors in this way. Building a safer community is something we can all play a part in.

Our next SAS training sessions:

· 21 September | Barry

· November | Date TBC

· 20 January | Penarth

All sessions are free to attend. Want to become a safer, more informed community ally? Sign up and help us build a community where survivors are more likely to be seen, heard and supported.
