We are winners!

We are delighted to have been awarded the Bro Radio Community Awards ‘Charity of the Year’ award 2024!

Bro Radio’s annual Community Awards celebrate businesses, organisations and individuals who make a significant impact on the local community in the Vale of Glamorgan. The ceremony took place at Penarth Pier Pavilion on Friday 7th June. Thirty-three finalists from eleven categories came together alongside sponsors, dignitaries and members of the Bro Radio team for the celebration, as part of the local radio station’s fifteenth birthday.

Each of the finalists in the event was nominated by members of the local community, colleagues, supporters and members during a nomination process at the start of 2024, before being independently judged and scored by a team of 30 judges based on key category information.

Bro Radio Operations Director, Nathan Spackman, said: “As Bro Radio celebrates fifteen years serving the Vale of Glamorgan, our awards are a great opportunity to recognise the large number of community groups, businesses, volunteers and individuals making a huge difference in our community.”

Vicky Friis, Chief Executive of Vale Domestic Abuse Services, said: “To be selected amongst a group of incredible local charities that were nominated in this category is a huge honour and we are thrilled to have been singled out for the work that our team does to support survivors and their families.

This award sends such an important message to the women we help. It says to them that the local community stands with them and cares about what they have been through. It will help survivors to know that they are seen, they are heard and they are believed. With a 30% increase in number of women and families reaching out for support in the last year, now more than ever it is important that a spotlight is placed on the services we provide so that more women and their families can access the support and safety that they need.”
