Vale Domestic Abuse Services shortlisted in Bro Radio Community Awards

Vale Community Radio Station Bro Radio has announced the shortlist for its 2024 Community Awards, with Vale Domestic Abuse Services making the list.

Recognising the best in community, business, sport and more from across the Vale as part of the stations fifteenth year on air, the shortlist has been whittled down by a team of judges, from entries made by local people from every corner of the County.

Vale Domestic Abuse Services has been recognised in the Charity Award category for their work to tackle domestic abuse and male violence and support survivors across the Vale of Glamorgan.

The winners will be revealed at a ceremony at Penarth Pier Pavilion on Friday 7th June, with those not in attendance being able to hear highlights from the ceremony on Sunday 9th June from 6pm.

Bro Radio Operations Director, Nathan Spackman, said: “As Bro Radio celebrates fifteen years serving the Vale of Glamorgan, our awards are a great opportunity to recognise the large number of community groups, businesses, volunteers and individuals making a huge difference in our community.”

Vicky Friis, Chief Executive of Vale Domestic Abuse Services, said: “We are thrilled to have made the shortlist amongst a group of incredible local charities. With a 30% increase in number of women and families reaching out for support in the last year, it is fantastic to be recognised for the work we do to support survivors in the Vale of Glamorgan.”

Chris Davies Estate Agents is the lead sponsor for Bro Radio’s Community Awards. Andrew Fenton, Managing Director said “We’re a local estate agent based in the Vale of Glamorgan. As multiple award winners, we strive to provide the best level of service and treat all of our customers as people – ensuring they don’t become a number.”

Indeed, we’ve worked with Bro Radio in the past, very successfully, and this is a great opportunity for us to give back and recognise the people that make the Vale such a great place to live.”
